In addition to being a Read Aloud 15 partner, I encourage read aloud time for children of all ages and families. My current community outreach activities include:
- Volunteering as a reading tutor for struggling and hesitant readers through Aviara Reading Friends (local elementary school program)
- Reading aloud with advanced readers at a local elementary school
- Presenting the benefits of reading aloud from birth through adolescence at community events
- Working with school and public librarians to provide book talks, read aloud time, and literacy activities
- Participating in read aloud projects with my own children, currently ages 17 and 13.
